In contrast to the figures produced by the Halifax last month (Previous Article), the Government has published it's house price figures which show that the annual rate at which house prices are falling increased to 11.5% in January.

The department of Communities and Local Government's house price index put the average price of a home in the UK at £195,724 which is 0.2% higher than in December but over £26,000 less than in January 2008.
